ABOUT NATALIE

I’m Natalie, the founder of Rustic Retreats. In 2012, while working part-time as a nurse, we moved to my husband’s family farm, Owslow Farm, where I began offering Owslow Cottage as a self-catering holiday let. With a newborn and a two-year-old, and having just moved to a new county, we were starting completely from scratch.

Over the years, we gradually expanded with the addition of Jack’s Cottage and made the decision to diversify beyond traditional farming by introducing alpaca experiences. Our first alpacas arrived in 2019 and quickly became a much-loved highlight for guests, tourists, and locals alike. In 2023, we continued to grow with the creation of Water’s View Campervan Pitch.

So what’s next for us? We’re excited to keep building on what we’ve created, enhancing our guest experiences, developing new ideas, and continuing to share the beauty of Rustic Retreats with everyone who visits.

Dog Friendly

Up to two dogs

One of the best things about staying with Rustic Retreats is that your four-legged friends can join the adventure too (up to two dogs are welcome, with a small charge applying). You and your canine companions can unwind together in the heart of the British countryside, exploring scenic trails by day and relaxing by the fire in one of the many dog-friendly country pubs nearby.

We kindly ask that dogs remain on the ground floor and off the furniture during your stay, helping us keep our cottages comfortable for all guests.

Delightful private campervan pitch.
The hot tub and decking were great for a totally relaxing evening looking at the stars. The toilet and shower block was very clean and tidy. The hosts were friendly without being obtrusive.
Only minor irritations - the hot tub heating/filter system is quite loud and you can hear traffic on the road (though I do have very good hearing!)
Also be warned that the entry gate is quite tight - our motorhome is 6.15m and I wouldn't have wanted to try to fit a 7m in as the grass bank opposite the gate is quite high.

We loved our stay at Waters View Campervan Pitch.
The facilities were great - lovely hot shower and clean bathroom area.
The pitch itself was a good size and brilliant to have a table, chairs and fire pit, so we didn’t have to set up our own.
The hot tub is the cherry on the cake, with spectacular views over the farm and lake.
We loved visiting the alpacas and seeing the hens wandering about.
Natalie was great with communications and self check-in couldn’t be easier.

We had a 1 night stay here. The shower and toilet block were impeccable, the area was so quiet in the evening and the view of carsington and the sunrise was incredible. Also had clear instructions on how to get in before arrival. A very nice place, we will definitely be staying again.

Absolutely loved it..what an amazing find..Over looks Carsington Waters..The Campervan pitch has everything you need..Electric, hot tub, shower, toilet/ sinks and patio.. The best bit amazing views and sunsets. Walks to Carsington waters and the knockerdown pub wasn't far at all..wish I could've stayed longer.. 😊

Lovely Motorhome stay for our wedding anniversary 37th. We did struggle to park due to the length of our outfit but managed after much manoeuvring. The views were amazing and the location very special . The owner came to check that we had settled in and was really helpful in giving us directions for where we wanted to be on foot. Our spaniels had a ball and the Alpacas were a bonus as they were delightful when we visited them and they were fascinated by the dogs. The hot tub was wonderful to sit in and admire the view. The shower and toilet facilities were ideal. We became aware that visitors may have passed over the area where we were if there had been an Alpaca trip but this did not happen during our 2 night stay . As it rained we did store our chairs in the shower/ toilet  shed so as an aside it may be a useful addition to have a combination lock shed for this eventuality if we had been unable to do so due to other visitors. We've just had a wonderful 2 night stay at Waters view and it was idyllic. The view from the pitch is stunning, across Carsington Water and beyond. A large deck with table and seating, shower, toilet and washing up facilities (these may be shared on days when there is alpaca experiences happening on the farm but only for a short time and it didnt happen during our time) and best of all your own private hot tub. It made this stay a really special alternative to our usual park ups. Easy walk to the closest pub which is about 10 mins and lots of walking or cycling around the site. Lovely rustic shower block and toilet. Owners lovely people. To top it off hand fed the alpacas ! Will deffo be returning ! We had a lovely 2 night stay on this single camper pitch. Beautiful views over Carsington Water to the front, and a stunning sunset to the rear. The pitch has decking, garden furniture,  hot tub, water tap, electric, and a toilet, shower and washing up shed. There is also a firepit. The site offers Walking With Alpacas most days from 10 til 3. Visitors have access to your toilet and wash basin. This didn't interfere with us as we were out for the day, but it would have been uncomfortable if we were in the hottub or shower, as visitors have to literally walk through your pitch. It would be great if this was a completely private facility as then you could leave all your belongings in the shed, but we kept putting everything away. I've given a 4/5 stars...with a few little extra touches this would be the perfect 5star pitch for a peaceful few nights away. Would still highly recommend.
