Life at The Derbyshire Dog Retreat

The Derbyshire Dog Retreat, we offer luxury home dog boarding and dog sitting in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, providing every dog with a calm, caring, and genuine home-from-home experience. Based on our beautiful farm in Carsington, close to Matlock and Ashbourne, dogs enjoy all the comforts of a real family home in peaceful countryside surroundings, rather than staying in a traditional kennel. Prices start from £30 per night (24hr stay).

Please note that, as our own two Sprocker Spaniel dogs are entire females, we are unable to accommodate entire (unneutered) male dogs.

At The Derbyshire Dog Retreat, every dog is treated like part of the family.

Family Home Stays

Every dog that visits The Derbyshire Dog Retreat stays inside our family home and has full access to the entire downstairs living area, where they can relax comfortably just as they would in their own home. We believe dogs are happiest when they feel safe, settled and part of the family, which is why we only take a small number of dogs at a time to ensure each one receives plenty of care, attention and companionship.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My 7 month old puppy recently stayed here, where Natalie and her family welcomed Nala into their home. We were offered a meet and greet where Natalie took the time to find out about my puppy and her likes/dislikes.
Nala settled in quickly and soon made friends with their own 2 spaniels, and I was reassured by Natalie's photos/videos of them all having a lovely time together. She enjoyed her stay with lots of fun and cuddles. I will definitely be booking her in again and would recommend them to anyone looking for dog boarding in an animal loving home where they will have lovely company and be treated as one of the family.

Our 11-month-old Jack Russell (Sox) recently stayed at the Derbyshire Dog Retreat with Natalie and her family, and I honestly couldn’t be happier. It was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Sox clearly loved every minute of it, and having lots of doggy company during her stay was an added bonus and so valuable.

It really felt like a home-from-home, which made such a difference. The thought of putting her in kennels didn’t sit well with me, so when I found this, I hoped it would be the perfect alternative and it absolutely was. It completely put my mind at ease, and I didn’t feel worried leaving her, knowing she was in such good hands. Natalie also kept me updated during her stay, which provided even more reassurance.

I’ll definitely be using Natalie going forward. I can’t thank her enough for the care she gave Sox.

I feel so lucky to have found this place and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a safe, loving environment for their dog.

The atmosphere is relaxed and entirely suited to my dog. Natalie follows our feeding and exercise regime making it a home from home experience for Diana. She loves it there and the household doggie companions are a big bonus.
Natalie sends regular photos and updates. We are confident that Diana is well cared for and having a good time whilst we are away.

Our 5 year old Sprocker Spaniel spent 5 days with Natalie and her own two Sprockers. It was the first time we had left him with anyone other than family. He came back really calm having clearly had lots of exercise and the photos we received showed him to be feeling right at home!
We shall definitely be taking him back there knowing he was treated like one of the family.

Pip had a wonderful time with Natalie, and her family. We were kept up to date with a few photos of Pip enjoying himself in the fields and out on walks.
