Carsington Water
Stretching across 3 km, Carsington Water is a spectacular reservoir thriving with wildlife. This body of water also hosts a plethora of sporting activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing and much more!
Run out of cycle routes? Carsington Water has enough to suit everyone, regardless of age and stamina. Fancy a more relaxing stroll? The reservoir itself takes approximately three to four hours to walk around and you can experience some amazing sights along the way.
Alton Towers
For the thrill-seekers out there, Alton Towers is the perfect theme park for teenagers, children and parents alike. Since its opening in 1980, Alton Towers has grown in popularity and now welcomes over 2 million visitors every year. Take on the Smiler loops, travel backwards on Thirteen and reach speeds of up to 100km/h with Rita.
For family days out, you can take the kids to Cbeebies Land or make a splash on the Congo River Rapids. With over 40 rides to enjoy, there’s something there for everyone.
Chatsworth House
Established in 1687, Chatsworth House is one of the most prominent features of the Peak District and can be found only half an hour away from Rustic Retreats. This stately home shouldn’t be missed and can be accessed with a small entry fee.
Chatsworth House gardens are a sight to behold, especially in festive seasons, and take a few hours to fully experience. You can also explore inside the house itself, complete with painted ceilings and an expertly sculpted interior.
Cycle and Walking Routes
If you’re not looking to venture far, there are plenty of walking and cycle routes available from our cottages retreats. Matlock Farm Park
Only a 25-minute drive from our cottage retreats, Matlock Farm Park is the ideal family day out. Open seven days a week, Matlock Farm Park is the ultimate kid-friendly place with activities such as horse riding and go-karting, complete with both indoor and outdoor adventure playgrounds.
There’s also plenty of space for adults to rest, so sit back and relax at the garden room cafe or rainforest coffee shop. You can enjoy Matlock Farm Park year-round, with Christmas festivities and summer entertainment.
